On April 26 and 27, 2025, Sál had its world première at the National Taichung Theater in Taiwan: a space whose flowing, organic architecture offered a uniquely powerful stage for the debut of our new work.
Taiwan has long been a pivotal part of our journey. Over the years, through the collaboration with Dimension Plus, we have brought Dökk to local audiences and transformed the National Taichung Theater itself with an immersive mapping version of Artificial Botany in 2022. It is through these relationships that Sál has found its world première, making this return to Taichung both meaningful and symbolic.

The première of Sál at the National Taichung Theater marked not only the culmination of months of work, but also the continuation of a dialogue with Taiwan that began more than a decade ago. We are honored we have had the chance to work in such an incredible space, and thank the whole Taiwanese team for the support in bringing this show to life.
The theatre is one of the region’s most important cultural institutions, but beyond its prestige, it offers something rare: the possibility to push the technical and expressive boundaries of performance.
Here, Sál could unfold in its most ambitious form. Alongside our usual set-up of back projection and double front projection, we had the opportunity to add two additional projectors on the side walls near the stage. This expansion transformed the scenography, allowing the visuals to spread across the entire theatre and immerse the audience in a 270° visual landscape. The images no longer existed only behind or in front of the performers, but surrounded the stage, creating a living environment that dancers could inhabit and audiences could be enveloped by.
The sound design followed the same immersive logic. By spatializing the audio, we created a sense of presence and movement that amplified the emotional depth of the piece. Sound and image worked together to dissolve the edges of the stage, extending the performance beyond its physical frame.
